Paternò: Man arrested by Carabinieri for domestic abuse

In Paternò, Carabinieri officers from the local Carabinieri unit arrested a 51-year-old man for domestic abuse following an argument sparked by his wife's attempts to end their marriage. The prompt call to the 112 emergency number allowed officers to arrive at the home within minutes of the call for help, securing the woman's safety and activating "Code Red" procedures.

The victim's situation and medical intervention

The woman, transported by 118 medical personnel to the emergency room of Paternò hospital, reported that the incident was not an isolated one, but part of a series of harassing behaviors she had experienced over time. The Carabinieri's prompt response ensured the victim's protection and prevented further incidents of violence.

Arrests and precautionary measures

Based on the evidence gathered, which is to be verified in court, the man was arrested for domestic abuse and taken to the Catania – Piazza Lanza Mascali e Riposto (CT) prison.

The Carabinieri of the Catania Provincial Command intensified patrols during the summer, focusing on gathering places and summer nightlife. The operations, carried out in coordination between the Giarre Company's Operations Section and the Riposto and Mascali Stations, with the support of the Nicolosi Dog Unit, aimed to prevent predatory crimes, drug dealing, and drug use.

During the operation, a 23-year-old from Belpasso was reported for illegally carrying a folding knife (7 cm blade) and two people were reported to the Prefecture of Catania for having small quantities of drugs (1 gram of cocaine and 5 grams of marijuana).

A total of 82 residents and 35 vehicles were checked, with two searches conducted. The activity will continue in the coming weeks, ensuring a constant presence in the area to increase the safety of residents and tourists.
