Scoglitti: 36-year-old Tunisian man arrested by Carabinieri after stabbing on beach

Scoglitti: Stabbing on the beach, suspect arrested by Carabinieri

Over the weekend, Carabinieri officers from the Scoglitti station responded promptly to a report received by the emergency number 112. At the scene, near a beach in the seaside village, an argument between two Tunisian citizens escalated into a serious assault: GK, a 36-year-old legal resident of Vittoria, stabbed a 35-year-old Tunisian man several times in the abdomen. The victim, transported by a passerby to the Guzzardi hospital in Vittoria, suffered critical injuries and immediately underwent major surgery. The prognosis remains guarded.

The attacker was arrested and the weapon was seized.

The Carabinieri promptly apprehended the stabber, who still possessed the weapon used—a bloody knife—which was immediately seized. After serious evidence of guilt was gathered, the 36-year-old was arrested and taken, at the direction of the Public Prosecutor of the Ragusa Prosecutor's Office, to the local prison.

Validation of arrest and detention in prison

The validation hearing was held at the Ragusa Court, which confirmed the arrest and ordered continued detention. All allegations will be examined in a cross-examination between the parties, as required by current legislation.
