Over the weekend, Carabinieri officers from the Meldola Company's Mobile Radio Unit arrested a 47-year-old man, allegedly responsible for failing to comply with a stop sign and causing a dangerous escape, aggravated by drunk driving. The incident prompted prompt intervention by officers to prevent further risks to traffic and public safety.
Dangerous escape through the streets of Meldola
Around 2 a.m., during a routine checkpoint, the Carabinieri ordered a passing vehicle to stop. The driver, instead of stopping, suddenly accelerated, grazing one of the officers and escaping at high speed through the city center. During the chase, which lasted several minutes, the 47-year-old engaged in reckless maneuvers, endangering the safety of other road users and the Carabinieri.
Investigations and seizure of the vehicle
Stopped after a brief chase, the man was subjected to a breathalyzer test, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 1,60 g/l, significantly above the legal limit. The driver's vehicle was immediately seized for confiscation.
Precautionary measures and validation of the arrest
After the usual formalities, the 47-year-old was arrested and, by order of the Deputy Public Prosecutor of Forlì, placed under house arrest pending a summary trial. The following morning, the Judge of the Forlì Court confirmed the arrest, ordering him to report daily to the competent Carabinieri station until the next hearing.
