"Here We Are," Gioele Dix tells of love amidst misunderstandings and modernity.

From the nineteenth century to the present day, between pianos, train compartments and smartphones, love between couples remains a fragile, ironic and surprisingly current terrain. This is the common thread of “Here we are”, the show written and directed by Joel Dix, on stage at the Teatro Oscar (Via Lattanzio, 58/A) from 11 to 14 February 2026, produced by Bresciano Theater Center.

Valentina Cardinali stars in a brilliant show

The absolute protagonist is Valentina Cardinali, actress from captivating vitality and extraordinary interpretative flexibility, flanked on stage by Francesco Aricò. An artistic partnership that gives life to three pairs, three eras and three different ways of narrating the relationship between men and women. Cardinali returns to collaborate with Gioele Dix after significant shared experiences, including “The Race After the Wind” dedicated to Buzzati and “We were going full blast”, show on the legendary 1000 Miles, both productions of the Centro Teatrale Bresciano.

Three stories, three eras, one universal theme

The show is divided into three narrative paintings which trace an ideal historical and sentimental path. The journey begins with “Love and Piano” by Georges Feydeau, one-act play from 1883, brilliant and irresistible comedy of errors, where the 19th century theatrical language stages misunderstandings and gags that are still surprisingly relevant today. We then move on to the heart of the show with “Here we are” by Dorothy Parker, a 1931 story that gives the work its title.

Two newlyweds, locked in one railway compartment, become a symbol of a marriage already undermined by silent conflicts, unsaid things and impossible dialogues, in a masterpiece of bitter irony. The last painting, written by Joel Dix, is set in the present: a contemporary couple faces anxieties, fragilities and short circuits of the digital world, where the virtual amplifies distances and misunderstandings.
