Easter 2026 at MilanoFree museums, open exhibitions, and a complete guide to cultural events

Milano is preparing to celebrate the Easter holidays in the name of art and culture. For Easter 2026, the Municipality is offering a wide range of special openings for museums and exhibition venues, offering residents and visitors numerous opportunities to discover the city's artistic heritage.

Easter with free entry to civic museums

On Sunday, April 5th, Easter Sunday and the first Sunday of the month, the civic museums will be open free of charge thanks to the "Domenica al Museo" initiative. This is an opportunity to enjoy free access to some of Milan's main cultural institutions.

It will be possible to visit the collections of the Sforza Castle, the Civic Aquarium, the GAM Gallery of Modern Art, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of the Twentieth Century, and the Museum of Natural History.

Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine, Palazzo Moriggia | Museo del Risorgimento, and Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano are also open with free admission.

MUDEC and free exhibitions for Easter

The MUDEC Museum of Cultures is also participating in the initiative, offering free admission to both the permanent collection and the exhibition “The Sense of Snow” on Easter Sunday.

The following day, however, only the exhibition “100 Photographs to Inherit the World” will remain open to visitors, while the other sections will have modified opening hours.

Easter Monday with civic museums closed

On Monday, April 6th, Easter Monday, all civic museums will be closed. This break, however, doesn't completely interrupt the city's cultural offerings, thanks to other exhibition venues that will also be open on this day.

Royal Palace and PAC remain open on Easter Monday.

Among the main cultural centers open both on Easter and Easter Monday is the Palazzo Reale, which hosts four important exhibitions: "Anselm Kiefer. The Alchemists," "The Macchiaioli," "Metaphysics / Metaphysical" and "Robert Mapplethorpe. The Forms of Desire."

The PAC Pavilion of Contemporary Art was also open on both days, with Marco Fusinato's exhibition “The only true anarchy is that of power”.

Fabbrica del Vapore and GAM: art for everyone

Fabbrica del Vapore will be open to visitors both on Easter and Easter Monday with three free exhibitions: "Water and Peaks," "Stefano Zardini. A Visionary at Altitude," and "Macro Pop."

The GAM Galleria d'Arte Moderna presents the exhibition "Paul Troubetzkoy. The Sculptor of the Belle Époque," which can be visited exclusively on Easter Sunday.

A widespread cultural offering for living Milano

The Easter program confirms the Municipality's will to Milano to enhance the city's cultural heritage and offer opportunities for its enjoyment accessible to all.
