Targeted controls in Zen 2
The operation was conducted by the Carabinieri of the San Filippo Neri Station , with the support of the Palermo Villagrazia Dog Unit , as part of an extraordinary territorial control service aimed at combating crime and recovering weapons and illicit material.
The search focused on the common areas of the residential complex on Via Fausto Coppi, where the officers inspected cavities, tunnels, manholes, and meter compartments, identifying several packages hidden in hard-to-reach places.
Approximately 150 bullets, cartridge cases and warheads were seized.
During the investigations, approximately 150 pieces were found , including:
- bullets of various calibers;
- shells already fired;
- numerous warheads.
According to what emerged, the material was stored in such a way that it could be used for the artisanal reassembly of ammunition . Among the seized items was also a blank-firing pistol without its red safety cap , with the barrel modified by lead sealing, a circumstance that made it necessary to seize the weapon for technical investigations.
A stolen motocross bike was also recovered.
During their inspections, the Carabinieri also noticed a dirt bike . Subsequent checks confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen the previous day . The bike was then recovered and returned to its owner.
Investigations underway to identify those responsible
All the ballistic material found and the modified pistol were seized and held by unknown persons . Investigators are now conducting further investigations to identify who had access to the locations where the material was hidden and to reconstruct the possible destination of the weapons and ammunition.
As required by current legislation, any persons involved in the investigation must be considered innocent until a final conviction is issued.
