Rome: Five drug-related arrests in the eastern suburbs of the capital

Rome: Five arrests made by the Falcons during drug checks between Pietralata, Ponte di Nona, and Centocelle.

Five arrests and three consumers reported

From two-wheeled "vaults" to benches used as drug drop-off points, to vehicles transformed into mobile storage facilities: this is the picture emerging from the latest operations by the State Police Falcons in the eastern suburbs of Rome. Investigators from the Flying Squad's VI Section arrested five people, each considered to be seriously suspected of possessing narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. As part of the same operation, three users were reported to the Prefectural Authority, identified at the peak of three drug-for-money transactions.

The helmet as a mobile storage device

The first incident was documented in the Pietralata neighborhood, where the Falchi police intercepted a drug dealer using a vehicle to quickly navigate the area. The officers were aroused by a transaction that took place in just a few seconds, with a banknote exchanged for a package. A subsequent search uncovered a small, mobile stash hidden in the cavity of a helmet, containing six more doses of cocaine. The man, a 62-year-old Roman, was arrested, while the buyer was reported to the Prefecture.

The mobile depot in Piazza Mengano

Another mobile depot was located by the Falcons in Piazza Vincenzo Mengano. Behind the apparent parking of a vehicle on the side of the road, officers reconstructed a pattern similar to the one previously uncovered in Pietralata, with a mobile base this time located in a car. Hidden in the vehicle's dashboard, they found 57 packages of cocaine, weighing a total of 70 grams, ready to supply the retail market in the eastern suburbs of the capital.

Drug dealing between Via Capitini and Via Luthuli

In Ponte di Nona, after hours of observing a drug dealing area between Via Capitini and Via Luthuli, investigators documented a constant flow of buyers. According to their reconstruction, a pair of pushers managed the deals through rapid movements and constant changes of position, repositioning on the fly to try to evade potential checks. When the raid began, the two accomplices attempted to split up to escape the officers, but were stopped. One of the two, before being apprehended, attempted to get rid of the dose he was holding; during the operation, 57 packages of cocaine, pre-packaged for sale, were recovered.

The validation of the arrests

In Centocelle, the Hawks identified a drug drop-off point in a green area, thanks to suspicious activity surrounding a young man who was lounging on a bench, pretending to be a regular in the square. He was hiding pre-packaged hashish packages intended for customers inside a cigarette pack. He was also arrested, while two buyers, caught in the act, were reported to the prefectural authorities. All arrests made by the State Police Hawks were validated by the judicial authorities.
