Rome: Police conduct anti-drug raid, resulting in seven arrests and over 2,5 kilos of drugs seized.
Several drug dealing channels in the capital have been hit.
From drug dealing centers in public parks to a more structured home delivery system, the State Police have completed a series of operations against drug trafficking in Rome, arresting seven individuals on various counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. During the operations, over 2,5 kilograms of drugs, including hashish, cocaine, crack, and marijuana, were seized . Two alleged buyers, caught during two sales, were reported to the judicial authorities and notified to the Prefecture.
Two kilos of hashish hidden in a car in Casal del Marmo
The most significant seizure was made by patrol officers in the Casal del Marmo area . While patrolling a street near a known drug dealing area in the neighborhood, officers noticed suspicious behavior from a 26-year-old man who, upon seeing the patrol, suddenly changed his behavior. The search led to the discovery of 20 blocks of hashish , weighing approximately 2 kilograms , inside a backpack kept in the car. A subsequent house search also yielded approximately 13 grams of marijuana and materials used to weigh and package the substance. The young man was subsequently arrested.
Drug dealing ring dismantled in Via Nomentana park
A second operation involved the park on Via Nomentana , where officers reconstructed an organized drug sales system. According to the investigation, a young man was responsible for managing customers, escorting them to benches where they would await the dealer's arrival. The dealer then retrieved the doses from a hiding place under a tree. The raid occurred during a drug deal. Despite attempting to dispose of the drugs, the alleged dealer was apprehended. The search resulted in the seizure of over 75 grams of hashish and cash believed to be related to the drug dealing activity.
Drug delivery: cocaine courier arrested
Further arrests have been made in connection with drug delivery , the system in which drugs are delivered directly to customers. Officers from the Frascati and Romanina police stations , off duty, intervened on Via Appia Nuova during an alleged delivery. The buyer managed to escape, while the driver, a 34-year-old Roman, was found in possession of 20 doses of cocaine , both cooked and raw, hidden inside a cigarette pack. €770 in cash was also found in his possession . Cell phone searches revealed that the drug dealing was being conducted through messaging apps with home deliveries.
315 grams of cocaine seized during a traffic stop
Another arrest was made after a check by officers from the Ponte Milvio District XV . A search of a vehicle yielded approximately 315 grams of cocaine , along with packaging and cutting materials and €800 in cash . Additional doses were found in the possession of the woman in the passenger seat, leading to her being reported to the Prefecture as a drug user, while the driver was arrested.
More arrests involving hashish, cocaine and crack
The operation was completed by officers from the Tor Carbone District VIII and the Flaminio Nuovo and Colleferro Police Stations . During three separate checks, additional individuals were arrested for possession with intent to distribute narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, and crack. In one of the cases, the intervention occurred during a drug deal, resulting in the purchaser being reported and issued an administrative citation. All arrests were subsequently validated by the judicial authorities.
