Rome, warehouse transformed into tobacco storage: 1.350 kilos seized by police and finance police

A warehouse used to store untraceable loose tobacco was discovered in the southwest district of Rome by State Police officers and Guardia di Finanza soldiers . The operation led to the seizure of 1.350 kilograms of unprocessed tobacco , as well as other material believed to be consistent with a possible illicit cigarette packaging and manufacturing operation.

Administrative control triggers further investigations

The investigation began with an administrative check conducted by officers from the Spinaceto Public Safety Commissioner's Office at a street meat vendor. During the checks, the officers noticed residues of processed tobacco on the floor of an adjacent warehouse . This discovery prompted further investigations to determine the source of the material and the possible use of the premises.

Nine boxes containing over a ton of tobacco

The subsequent inspection of the warehouse, carried out with the support of the Pomezia Guardia di Finanza Company , led to the discovery of nine boxes containing a total of 1.350 kilograms of unmanufactured tobacco . The material found lacked any indication of provenance or traceability. Also found inside the premises were 22 jars of liquid glue and other tools believed to be potentially used for making cigarettes.

Makeshift shelters were also found in the warehouse

During the inspection, the operators also noted the presence of several spaces under construction, presumably intended for temporary accommodation. The premises also contained some food supplies, likely intended for those employed in tobacco processing operations.

Seizure of the material and investigations underway

At the end of the operation, the State Police and the Guardia di Finanza seized 1.350 kilograms of unmanufactured tobacco and the material found inside the warehouse. Investigations are continuing to reconstruct the product's origin and determine whether the warehouse was used for illicit activities.
