Casteltermini: An 87-year-old businessman kidnapped and threatened with extortion was arrested by the Carabinieri.
Decisive intervention by the Carabinieri of the Station and the Operational and Radiomobile Unit
Carabinieri officers from the Casteltermini station, along with members of the Cammarata Company's Operations and Radiomobile Unit, have arrested a 50-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, on serious suspicion of kidnapping for extortion of an 87-year-old local businessman, owner of a company operating in the plastics sector.
Episode dynamics
The intervention was prompted by a report of the elderly businessman's disappearance. Upon arriving on the scene, the Carabinieri noticed the businessman approaching his business and intercepted the alleged perpetrator while he was driving nearby. According to the reconstruction, the man approached the businessman, forced him under threat into another vehicle, and drove him to a farmhouse, where he was restrained and threatened with demands for money.
The farmhouse and the car were seized
Only after promising payment did the suspect bring the victim back to the business, where he was stopped by the Carabinieri. During the investigation, the farmhouse and the vehicle used were seized, along with a toy gun, a knife, a chair, and some ties consistent with the incident. The elderly businessman was taken to the emergency room for precautionary tests.

Arrest and precautionary measure
The arrested man was transferred to the Agrigento prison, by order of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the local court.
