Canicattì, armed robbery at tobacco shop: alleged perpetrator arrested after police investigation
A man with a criminal record for property crimes was arrested.
The State Police arrested a citizen of Canicattì , believed to be the alleged perpetrator of an armed robbery against the owner of a tobacconist's shop . The arrest was carried out on August 13, 2026, by personnel from the Canicattì Public Safety Commissioner's Office , pursuant to an order implementing a precautionary prison sentence issued by the investigating judge of the Agrigento Court . The man, already known to law enforcement for previous criminal convictions related to property crimes, is accused of being the alleged perpetrator of a robbery committed on the afternoon of August 7, 2026, inside a tobacconist's shop in the city.
The robbery and the threat with the knife
According to investigators' reconstruction, the robber broke into the business, threatening the owner with a knife. The robbery reportedly amounted to approximately €200 , stolen after intimidating the shopkeeper. Following the incident, police officers immediately began investigating to identify the perpetrator.

The investigations conducted by the State Police allowed them to gather information deemed useful in identifying the alleged perpetrator. Specifically, investigators analyzed images from video surveillance systems in the area and recognized the individual thanks to the presence of specific tattoos . The information gathered led to the request and subsequent issuance of a precautionary measure by the judicial authorities.

Transferred to Agrigento prison
After the ritual formalities, the man was taken to the Agrigento prison , where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
