The Carabinieri of Senigallia stopped a driver who went off the road during the night: his expired international permit was also confiscated.
The Carabinieri continue their patrol and road accident prevention efforts. Late on Saturday, August 1st , around 23:00 PM , officers from the Mobile Radio Unit of the Operational Unit and Mobile Radio Unit of the Senigallia Company responded to a road accident in a peripheral area of the municipality of Montemarciano . When the patrol arrived, the Carabinieri found a car that had left the roadway for reasons still under investigation.
The driver refuses treatment, but raises suspicions among the police
The driver of the vehicle was a 45-year-old foreign man, legally resident in the province, who, despite the circumstances of the accident, refused hospital transport and medical attention from the 118 emergency personnel who responded to the scene. The driver's physical and mental condition, however, aroused suspicion among the Carabinieri, who decided to proceed with the required tests to determine whether he had been under the influence of alcohol.

The breathalyzer test detects a value over four times the limit
The test carried out by the Carabinieri was positive, revealing a blood alcohol level of 2,24 grams per liter , a value well above the legal limit and consistent with serious intoxication. For this reason, the 45-year-old was reported at large to the judicial authorities for the crime of driving under the influence of alcohol.
International Driving Permit Withdrawn
During further checks of the vehicle and driver's documentation, the officers also determined that the man was driving with an expired international driving permit . The permit was immediately confiscated by the Carabinieri, who will proceed with further checks to ensure he actually met the requirements for driving in Italy. The vehicle involved in the accident, which was registered to a third party, has been returned to its rightful owner.
