Solopaca: Carabinieri arrested him while stealing electrical cables from a high-speed rail construction site.

Carabinieri from the Telese Terme station arrested a 42-year-old man from Solopaca, already known to law enforcement, who was caught attempting to steal electrical cables from a construction site belonging to Rete Ferroviaria Italiana SPA, a company designated for the construction of the Cancello-Benevento high-speed line. The man had stolen approximately one hundred meters of copper cables, weighing approximately fifty kilograms, using large pliers to break open the cable protection duct.

Timely intervention and risk prevention

The construction site, of national strategic interest, is under constant surveillance by the Carabinieri. The patrol stationed on the site from a concealed position caught the perpetrator in the act, preventing possible repercussions on rail traffic safety. In addition to the stolen cables, the tools used in the theft were seized.

Aggravated charge and precautionary measure

Thanks to the recent aggravating circumstance of theft of strategic infrastructure, the man was arrested and taken to the Benevento prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities, as ordered by the Public Prosecutor on duty. The aggravating circumstance is intended to protect essential public works for energy, transportation, and telecommunications.
