Bergamo celebrates its excellence: the Lombardy Region awards 74 new historic businesses.

The Sestini Hall of the Palazzo dei Contratti e delle Manifestazioni hosted the latest stop on the tour with which the Lombardy Region recognizes the Historic Activities recognized in 2025 : entities that have kept the economic and social fabric of the province alive for at least 40 years.

There are 74 new Bergamo businesses – including artisan workshops, historic establishments and local shops – that have received the regional identification mark , a symbol of continuity, tradition and quality.

The ceremony was attended by the Councillor for Economic Development Guido Guidesi , the Councillor for Housing and Social Housing Paolo Franco and the President of the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce Giovanni Zambonelli.

During the awards ceremony, Councilor Guidesi emphasized the profound value of these businesses: "The brand is the Lombardy Region's way of recognizing and promoting the role of these historic businesses. They are the beating heart of our communities, a symbol of quality and an example of tenacity and passion. If Lombardy excels, it's thanks in part to them."

Guidesi also emphasized the strength of family businesses and the complexity of generational change, often addressed with determination and skill.

Councilor Paolo Franco , from Bergamo, emphasized the identity-building bond between the province and its historic businesses . “They represent the work culture that distinguishes Bergamo. Dedication, commitment, and continuity: values ​​that make our region unique. Supporting local businesses means supporting our communities.”

A heritage of 4.477 activities in Lombardy

With the 74 new entities, the total number of historical businesses in the province of Bergamo rises to 488 and those recognised in the whole of Lombardy to 4.477.

The complete list includes 17 historic artisan workshops, 15 historic premises and 42 historic shops , with businesses founded between the 1920s and the 1980s of the last century: butchers, restaurants, artisan workshops, pastry shops, pharmacies, clothing stores, service businesses and much more.

Regional support: the "Historic Enterprises for the Future" call for proposals

In addition to the recognition, the Lombardy Region supports these entities through the “Historic companies towards the future” call for proposals, which will make 10,8 million euros available in 2025.

The contribution covers up to 50% of investments in:

• innovation

• generational change

• redevelopment of the premises

• restoration and conservation

A measure designed to combine tradition and modernity , making even businesses that have been established for generations more competitive.
