A baby ocelot at La Torbiera Wildlife Park, the happy event goes viral.
A baby ocelot from La Torbiera Wildlife Park is a star on the web. The word "baby" has entered the top ten Google trends, and related news items refer to the small feline, also known as the American ocelot, which has trended in today's searches.
The Agrate Conturbia Park, in the province of Novara, announced the happy event of the birth about ten days ago in a Facebook post. "A new life at the Torbiera," it reads, "We are thrilled to share wonderful news: the birth of a baby ocelot (Leopardus pardalis). Our ocelot is part of the European Conservation Programme (EEP), which coordinates the management of zoo populations to preserve their genetic diversity and contribute to the long-term protection of the species. Each new birth is therefore an important milestone for this project!"
The park explains that "for now, the little one is spending his days safely with his mother. These days, he's starting to explore his enclosure, and with a little luck and patience, it will be possible to observe him during the visit."
"Every birth reminds us of the importance of the daily work done by modern zoos in protecting endangered species and safeguarding biodiversity. Welcome, little one!" concludes La Torbiera.
