Severe weather continues in the North, with a yellow alert for thunderstorms in four regions.

Severe weather persists in northern Italy, and a yellow alert has been issued for five regions today, Saturday, July 18. In the coming hours, the Civil Protection Department warns, the weakening of the high pressure system will cause cooler air to enter the highlands, which will favor the development of thunderstorms, some of which may be severe, especially in the eastern sectors of the northern regions.

Based on available forecasts, the Civil Protection Department, in consultation with the affected regions, which are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the affected areas, has issued a severe weather warning. The weather conditions, the statement continues, will impact various areas of the country and could cause hydrogeological and hydraulic problems. The warning predicts thunderstorms, including severe ones, beginning late this morning, Saturday, July 18, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna, extending into the Marche region. These events will be accompanied by heavy showers, strong wind gusts, localized hailstorms, and frequent electrical activity. 

In this context, and based on the forecast phenomena, a yellow alert for thunderstorms has been issued for today, Saturday 18 July, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and parts of Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Marche.

They are available on the Civil Protection Department website (www.protezionecivile.gov.it), along with general rules of conduct to follow in the event of severe weather. "Information on regional alert levels, specific critical situations that may affect individual regions, and the preventive measures adopted are managed by the local civil protection units, with whom the Department will monitor the situation as it evolves," concludes the Civil Protection Department.
