Chieti: A 50-year-old man is punched while defending his son during an argument, leaving him in a coma.

He intervened to defend his son during an argument and is now fighting for his life in the hospital. It happened last night on the Fossacesia waterfront, in the province of Chieti, where a 50-year-old man from Lanciano, originally from Altino and a Stellantis employee, was punched in the face during an argument between young people at the end of a night out at a nightclub. The man, who had apparently only intervened verbally to defend his son, was reportedly struck by a 19-year-old, falling to the ground and hitting his head.  

His condition immediately appeared very serious. An ambulance from Atessa 118 arrived on the scene. The fifty-year-old, intubated, was taken to the hospital and then transferred to Pescara, where he is admitted to the intensive care unit with a guarded prognosis. The Carabinieri are investigating the incident.
