Fire in Sesto al Reghena, worker injured and column of smoke visible for miles
A fire broke out this morning at a furniture manufacturing company in Sesto al Reghena (Pordenone), and a worker was hospitalized for burns and smoke inhalation.
The thick column of black smoke is visible for miles. A distiller containing thinner, located in the open area of the company, caught fire.
Firefighters from Pordenone, Sacile and San Vito are operating on site, along with other teams sent from Portogruaro (Venice), Latisana and Codroipo (Udine).
The use of fire-fighting foam also prevented the flames from spreading to the company's buildings. Firefighting operations are currently ongoing, and technicians from the Regional Environmental Agency have also arrived on site to monitor air quality.
As a precaution, both the mayor of Sesto al Reghena and the mayor of nearby Cinto Caomaggiore, in the province of Venice, advised residents to keep their windows closed.
