Minister Roccella was a guest on "Storie al Bivio," an interview prior to her husband Luigi Cavallari's passing.

Eugenia Roccella, Minister for Family, Birth Rates, and Equal Opportunities, will be a guest this evening, Tuesday, July 7, on "Storie al bivio di sera," broadcast at 9:20 p.m. on Rai 2. The minister will offer a testimony dedicated to her husband, "sharing with the audience a page of intimate and profound memory," according to the preview.  

The interview given to presenter Monica Setta "was recorded before the disappearance of her husband, Luigi Cavallari", who is still missing in Lake Vico, in the province of Viterbo.  

The minister's husband, Luigi Cavallari, has been missing since Saturday, June 27. The couple had decided to take advantage of Saturday to enjoy a day boating on the lake; while they were out at sea, Cavallari dived in for a swim but never resurfaced.  

The minister then raised the alarm. The search continues unabated, but so far without success. The operations, which continue day and night, are complicated by the poor visibility of the body of water, whose bottom is particularly muddy. Firefighter divers from Lombardy, Calabria, Sardinia, and Lazio, jet skis, and drones are in action. 

A university professor in the fields of architecture and construction engineering, Luigi Cavallari is a very private figure. Married to Minister Roccella since 1976—they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage—he and her two children. For several years, he was a professor of Architectural Technology at the Gabriele d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara. Throughout his academic career, he has held various internal positions, including director of the Department of Built Environment Technologies and head of the degree program in Construction Engineering. 

A week after her husband's passing, last Saturday, July 4, Minister Eugenia Roccella broke her silence to thank those who, in this "tragic and heartbreaking moment," were close to her. 

I'm trying to respond to everyone personally, and I know you'll understand if it takes me a while. But in the meantime, I'd also like to thank, through this page, everyone who has offered their support in various ways during these difficult days. An outpouring of affection that, in such a tragic and heartbreaking moment for me, moves me and helps me move forward. Thank you,” the minister wrote on her Facebook page.
