Weather, the heat finally knocks out: all of Italy will be in the green until Wednesday, then the Atlantic low brings a turning point.

The heatwave seems to have truly subsided. The latest heatwave bulletin published by the Ministry of Health confirms the 'knockout' of the heatwave that has gripped Italy in a constant grip in recent months, making the summer of 2026 the hottest on record in our country since 1950.

The surveillance system monitoring 27 provincial capitals has indicated a green alert from North to South for another 3 days: zero risk to health both today, Tuesday, September 15, and tomorrow, Wednesday, the 16. No cities have been placed on red or orange alerts, as those recorded in recent weeks due to the African anticyclone.

According to IlMeteo.it's forecast, today will be mostly sunny across much of the country, driven by the Azores High, with some cloud cover over the Alps and Prealps, inland Sicily, and Puglia. During the afternoon, some instability will affect Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, the Apulian mountains, Cilento, and Salento. But the real turning point will come starting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, when an Atlantic low is expected to arrive, bringing thunderstorms first to the North, particularly the Alps and the Po Valley, and then to Central and Southern Italy.
