Widespread, social media prefers Conte to Schlein: the wave of civic representatives Salis, Onorato, and Manfredi advances.

Giuseppe Conte is the leader of the progressive camp most loved on social media. According to an exclusive report produced for Adnkronos by Spin Factor, a leading national strategic consulting and data analytics firm, using Human, its exclusive AI-driven social listening platform, from July 11 to August 10, 2026, the president of the Five Star Movement outperformed other prime ministerial hopefuls and garnered a positive sentiment of 32,2%, compared to "only" 27,6% for Democratic Party Secretary Elly Schlein, who ranked second in the special ranking.

Rounding out the top three is Genoa's mayor, Silvia Salis, not yet officially running in the broad-based primaries but consistently called upon to be part of the campaign, who takes home a 25,7% positive sentiment score. The former hammer thrower isn't the only civic figure hot on the heels of the Conte-Schlein duo. Behind Salis, at 1,2%, is Alessandro Onorato, leader of Progetto Civico Italia and Rome's councilor for Major Events, with 24,5%, followed by Naples' mayor, Gaetano Manfredi, with 24%. 

Returning to the actual politicians, the first to emerge is Nicola Fratoianni, secretary of the Italian Left and co-leader of the Green and Left Alliance, who with 20,5% narrowly beats the secretary of the Italian Socialist Party, Enzo Maraio, with 19,8%; the president of Italia Viva-Casa Riformista, Matteo Renzi, with 19,3%; and the secretary of +Europa, Riccardo Magi, and the other co-spokesperson of AVS, Angelo Bonelli, both at 18,3%.  

Conte also leads the rankings for social media interactions, with 2,225,000. Schlein follows at a far distance with 567,000, Renzi with 455,000, Fratoianni with 374,000, and Salis with 310,000 interactions.
