Carabinieri arrested a man in Riesi for mistreatment, extortion, and aggravated assault.

Carabinieri intervention: victim protection and repression of family crimes

Carabinieri from the Riesi station executed a pre-trial detention order against a 40-year-old man, issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Caltanissetta Court at the request of the local prosecutor's office. The investigation began following complaints filed by the suspect's cohabiting mother, who had been the victim of repeated episodes of physical violence, threats, and harassment.

A context of violence and extortion demands

According to the investigation, the man allegedly engaged in systematic abuse and aggression against his mother. The alleged behavior includes threats, verbal abuse, physical assault, and constant demands for money to purchase alcohol and other goods. According to the prosecution, the 40-year-old's actions were intended to intimidate the victim, forcing her to comply with his demands out of fear of retaliation.

Pre-trial detention in prison

In light of the evidence gathered, the preliminary investigations judge of the Caltanissetta Court found there was serious evidence of guilt and ordered the suspect's pre-trial detention, granting the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office. This measure aims to ensure the victim's protection and prevent the suspect from repeating his violent behavior.
