Two Italians from the Land Flotilla held in Libya: pre-trial detention extended

Two Italians from the land flotilla remain in pre-trial detention in Libya while Italian diplomatic action continues.

The two Italian citizens participating in the Land flotilla and held in Libya appeared yesterday before the competent Libyan Prosecutor. At the end of the hearing, the local judicial authority ordered the continuation of pre-trial detention until their next appearance, thus leaving their detention conditions unchanged, at least for the moment.

New request for consular visit

As part of the assistance provided to compatriots abroad, the Consul General of Italy in Benghazi has submitted a new formal request for a consular visit to the two Italians. This is considered a crucial step to directly monitor the conditions of the detained Italians and to ensure the necessary institutional support during this phase of the matter.
