Monza: Illegal landfill containing 676 tons of waste discovered; concrete company reported.

The Carabinieri Forestali of Carate Brianza intervened following reports from the Lombardy Region.

A major concrete production company in the Monza area has been reported by the Carabinieri Forestali of Carate Brianza for waste disposal and illegal landfill . The investigation was launched following a report received under the agreement between the Lombardy Region and the Carabinieri Forestali , which identified a critical area through satellite imagery analysis.

The field checks and the huge accumulation of materials

After identifying the suspicious area, the military conducted specific on-site investigations, reconstructing a situation that had apparently persisted for several years. According to the investigations, a concrete company had systematically dumped non-hazardous special waste from its production activities directly on the land for approximately seven years . The materials found primarily included liquid concrete waste and wash water , accumulated on land leased by the company.

Over 676 tons of waste without permits

The investigation led to the quantification of a total accumulation of approximately 676 tons of material , a quantity deemed by investigators incompatible with an isolated incident and indicative of prolonged management. The Carabinieri Forestale also confirmed, according to their statement, the lack of authorizations and waste tracking systems, elements that led to the hypothesis of not only the crime of waste abandonment, but also the more serious crime of illegal landfill.

Investigation coordinated by the Monza Prosecutor's Office

The investigation is now being coordinated by the Monza Public Prosecutor's Office , which has filed criminal proceedings against the individuals already identified. The illegal landfill charge would also carry the aggravating circumstance of carrying out the activity within the scope of a business.
