Rimini: Man arrested with cocaine and nearly €9 in cash by State Police

A check at Marina Centro during summer services: 20 packages of drugs and cash believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing were seized.

The Rimini State Police arrested a young Albanian national on suspicion of possession of narcotics with intent to sell . The operation was conducted by officers from the Bologna Crime Prevention Unit , attached to the Rimini Police Headquarters as part of the extraordinary operations organized for the summer season.

Street checks in Marina Centro

The operation took place during a checkpoint in the Marina Centro area , one of the city's busiest areas, especially during the summer. Officers stopped a car driven by a young man and, during a document check, noted some suspicious elements. Specifically, the driver pulled a wallet from his pocket containing a significant amount of banknotes. When asked by the officers to explain the source of the money, the young man stated that he was unemployed and did not have any employment.

Drugs and cash found in the vehicle

Checks on the police database revealed a specific drug-related criminal record against the man. Specifically, he had been arrested by the Carabinieri in Cattolica in 2019. Given the driver's particularly agitated behavior, the officers decided to conduct a more thorough search of the vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, a candy container containing heat-sealed wrappers, a material normally used to package drug doses, was found. Also inside the vehicle were 20 packages containing cocaine , later identified as a narcotic, as well as a sum of money equal to €8.975.

Arrest and transfer to the police station

According to the State Police's reconstruction, the money was divided into several cellophane packages and believed to be related to illicit drug dealing. The young man was taken to the Rimini Police Headquarters for formal formalities, subjected to photo identification, and then arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics . The man was placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authorities pending a summary trial.
