Salerno launches "Io Mi Proteggo": anti-drug kits in nightlife venues to prevent gender-based violence.

The summer campaign "Io Mi Proteggo" (I Protect Myself) kicks off in Salerno: free drug-detection kits for drinks are being distributed in nightlife venues, with the support of the Carabinieri and the Febe Anti-Violence Center.

The La Crisalide in Rete Foundation's summer campaign brings drug-facilitated crime prevention tools to Salerno's nightlife scene, with the support of the Carabinieri (Italian Carabinieri) and the Febe Anti-Violence Center. The campaign includes meetings, awareness-raising, and the free distribution of test kits to detect substances in drinks.

Violence prevention also involves entertainment venues. After involving hundreds of students in schools across the province of Salerno, the "Io Mi Proteggo" project, promoted by the La Crisalide in Rete Foundation, is kicking off its summer campaign by bringing awareness-raising initiatives directly to Salerno's main nightlife venues.

The goal is to strengthen the culture of prevention, consensus, and freedom, offering young people concrete tools to defend themselves from increasingly widespread phenomena such as the tampering of drinks with narcotics, a practice used to facilitate aggression and violence.

The debut at Goccia a Mare with the distribution of the test kits

The first initiative took place on the evening of July 16th at the Goccia a Mare bar, where volunteers and workers from the Febe Anti-Violence Center distributed free test kits capable of detecting the presence of narcotics in drinks.

It's simple to use: just dip the tip of the strip into the drink for a few seconds. If the liquid has been contaminated with certain substances, a colored line appears, signaling the potential danger. This small gesture can be an important tool for prevention and awareness during nights out.

The presence of the Carabinieri strengthens the prevention network

The Carabinieri of the Salerno Provincial Command also took part in the initiative, represented by the Commander of the Salerno Company, Major Antonio Corvino, confirming the force's support for the project and its commitment to protecting young people and the community.

According to the organizers, collaboration between law enforcement, institutions, associations, and anti-violence centers is a key element of the initiative, with the goal of building a stable network of prevention, protection, and support for individuals.

Antonio Corvino: "Have fun, yes, but be mindful."

Major Antonio Corvino, commander of the Salerno Carabinieri Company, highlighted the educational value of the project, explaining that the initiative represents only the first of a series of events planned in the main summer nightlife venues.

Tonight's event is the first in a series of similar initiatives at major summer entertainment venues and is an expression of the crucial prevention work that is the essence of the Carabinieri's institutional service. Throughout the school year, together with Dr. Roberta Bolettieri and the tireless volunteers of the Febe Anti-Violence Center, we have met with many young people, explaining to them the importance of having fun, but also the importance of doing so with awareness. The "Io Mi Proteggo" project, a manifesto of the alliance between institutions, associations, and citizens, is a further sign and represents an additional service of proximity to the population.

Roberta Bolettieri: "Security makes freedom possible."

Roberta Bolettieri, president of the La Crisalide in Rete Foundation, emphasized how the project stems from a collaboration between institutional and local organizations.

The Carabinieri are a force of trust and proximity. Their presence alongside anti-violence centers demonstrates a genuine commitment to protecting women and young people. "Io Mi Proteggo" was born from this alliance: institutions, associations, and citizens who together build a culture of freedom and responsibility.

The Foundation also reiterates a central tenet of the initiative: safety does not limit freedom, but rather enables it, allowing girls and boys to enjoy their free time and social spaces with peace of mind, knowing they can count on a caring and supportive community.

The campaign will continue throughout the summer

The "Io Mi Proteggo" project will continue over the coming months, involving numerous venues in Salerno's nightlife scene through information activities, training sessions, and free distribution of reactive kits. The goal is to strengthen violence prevention and promote informed behavior among young people.
