Aston Villa win their first Europa League title with a 3-0 victory over Freiburg.
At the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul, Aston Villa secured their first Europa League victory in history, defeating Freiburg 3-0. The English team, led by Unai Emery, thus wrote a memorable chapter in the club's history, winning their third European trophy after their historic 1982 European Cup victory against Bayern Munich and the European Super Cup against Barcelona.

The first chance fell to Aston Villa, who came close to taking the lead in the 3rd minute with Watkins' diagonal shot parried by opposing goalkeeper Atubolu. Unai Emery, the magician of the Europa League
The credit for this success goes largely to Unai Emery, a true specialist in the competition. With this victory, the Spanish coach has won five Europa League titles in six finals, following triumphs with Sevilla and Villarreal. His only final defeat came in 2019, when he was in charge of Arsenal against Chelsea. Emery thus consolidates his personal record and confirms his position as the most successful manager in the competition's history.
