Brindisi, Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate checks: 25 businesses suspended and fines totaling over €158.
Supervision of work and fight against undeclared work
The Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate (NIL) in Brindisi continues its ongoing surveillance efforts to ensure compliance with social legislation and the protection of health and safety in the workplace. During the first four months of 2026, the NIL inspected 107 businesses and verified the status of 226 workers, finding irregularities in 18 cases involving non-contracted workers, thus establishing undeclared work.
Suspensions and heavy fines
The inspection led to the immediate suspension of 25 companies, with the imposition of administrative fines of €2.500 each. In addition, there are also large fines of €3.900 for each undocumented worker. The total amount of fines and penalties imposed amounts to approximately €158.000, demonstrating the Carabinieri's commitment to protecting workers' rights and combating irregularities.
Security issues
Numerous workplace safety violations were also found. The most frequent issues involved failure to assess risks and the absence of a Risk Assessment Document (RAD), lack of mandatory training, and failure to monitor workers' health. These behaviors, in the most serious cases, have resulted in the suspension of business operations and reporting to the Judicial Authorities.

Judicial measures and prevention
In total, 16 entrepreneurs were reported to the judicial authorities and 26 were subjected to suspension orders. This operation confirms the Carabinieri's ongoing commitment to accident prevention, combating undeclared work, and promoting workplace safety, all of which are essential for protecting workers and enforcing local regulations.
