Ostuni, e-bike theft and illegal establishment: two reported and seizure triggered

OSTUNI – The State Police conducted a double operation on the evening of January 22nd in Ostuni, where officers from the Public Safety Commission reported two men for the theft of an electric bicycle and seized a completely illegal premises, lacking any administrative authorization and minimal safety standards.

E-bike theft in the city center: those responsible identified

Two Ostuni residents, both already known to law enforcement, were identified as the suspected perpetrators of the theft of an electric bicycle that occurred the previous evening in the city center. The investigation, launched immediately by officers from the Ostuni Police Station, proved swift and effective thanks to the analysis of images from private video surveillance systems in the area.

The investigations allowed us to precisely reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and quickly identify the two individuals, who were reported to the judicial authorities, in accordance with the principle of presumption of innocence and pending the determination of the competent judicial authority.

An illegal club was discovered and seized: serious violations of safety regulations.

During the same evening, the security operation also led to the seizure of a completely illegal club/bar/games hall. The establishment, located in a basement with no emergency exits and non-compliant with current regulations, was found to lack any permit.

Due to its structural characteristics, the venue would never have been able to obtain the necessary administrative permits. Its opening posed a concrete threat to public safety and security, especially in the event of an uncontrolled influx of patrons. The manager was immediately reported, and the venue was placed under administrative seizure.

The operation was conducted with the support of the Guardia di Finanza , the Local Police and the Ostuni ASL, confirming the effectiveness of inter-force coordination.

Extraordinary territorial checks: numbers and results

The interventions are part of the broader inter-force security plan arranged by the Brindisi Police Headquarters , implemented on the evening of January 22nd to strengthen prevention and control of the territory in the municipality of Ostuni.

The operation involved the joint deployment of the State Police , Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, and Local Police, with the support of a canine unit. During the operation, a total of 246 people and 145 vehicles were identified and checked. Checks were also carried out on several commercial establishments, resulting in administrative fines being issued.

They were also charged with four violations of possession of narcotics for personal use and seven traffic violations, resulting in the withdrawal of two driving licenses.
