Turin, high-impact checks in Borgo Rossini: 260 people identified, two arrests, and one complaint filed.

Over the weekend, the Turin State Police conducted an extraordinary, high-impact patrol in the city's nightlife areas, with particular attention to the Borgo Rossini neighborhood and other downtown areas reported for incidents of petty crime and drug dealing. The operation, coordinated by the Turin Police Headquarters, aimed to strengthen law enforcement presence in areas characterized by high levels of influx of people during the evening and night hours.

Increased security in the Borgo Rossini neighborhood

The operation began on Friday evening and focused particularly on Borgo Rossini , an area with numerous commercial businesses frequented by hundreds of people, especially on weekends. The checks were also intensified in light of the increase in reports of petty crime recently recorded in the area and in anticipation of the adoption, in the coming weeks, of the prefectural ordinance designating the area as a "reinforced surveillance" zone , a topic already addressed during the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety.

Checks extended to squares and nightlife areas

The security measures have also been extended to other areas of the city with significant traffic, including Piazza Santa Giulia, Corso Brescia, Corso Novara, Via Maria Ausiliatrice, Lungo Dora Firenze, Porta Palazzo, and Piazza Vittorio Veneto . These areas have recently received reports, including through the State Police's YouPol app , regarding drug dealing and predatory crimes near businesses open late at night.

12 establishments inspected: fines totaling approximately €4

During the operation, 12 commercial establishments were inspected , including convenience stores, kebab shops, arcades, and bars. Six of the businesses were found to have administrative violations totaling approximately €4 . The irregularities found involved various areas, including the sale of beverages in glass containers and alcoholic beverages outside of permitted hours, hygiene deficiencies, and the unauthorized occupation of public land.

Various departments of the Police and other law enforcement agencies were employed

The checks involved operators from the Turin Mobile Unit , the Piedmont Crime Prevention Unit , the Flying Squad , the Administrative and Social Police , as well as personnel from the Carabinieri , the Guardia di Finanza and the Local Police . A total of 260 people were identified.

Drugs seized and three administrative reports issued

During the investigations, the State Police canine unit was also deployed , enabling them to locate and seize small quantities of cannabinoid-type narcotics abandoned by unknown individuals in several green areas. Three administrative offenses were also charged against individuals found in possession of narcotics for personal use.

Two arrested for the attempted theft of a gold necklace

The patrol also led to two arrests by officers from the Flying Squad . Shortly before midnight, in Piazza della Repubblica , two people were stopped after, according to investigators, they attempted to steal a gold necklace from a woman, acting in concert. A third person was charged with property crimes.

The checks will continue in the next few days

The State Police has announced that extraordinary operations in the affected areas will continue regularly, with the aim of preventing widespread crime, combating drug dealing, and ensuring greater security in the city's busiest neighborhoods during the summer season.
