Turin, police called for elderly mother; brother arrested with over 250 grams of hashish

He was concerned about the condition of his elderly mother, whom he hadn't heard from for several days, and called the police. When officers entered the home, however, they detected a strong odor of cannabis, and the search turned into a drug bust. It happened in the Falchera neighborhood , where the State Police arrested a 54-year-old Italian man suspected of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

The mother's plea for help

The officers therefore went to the woman's home to check on her condition. Fortunately, the woman was fine and opened the door to the officers.

The smell of cannabis in the apartment

Once inside the home, however, the officers detected a strong odor of cannabis . Shortly thereafter, the woman's other son, who lived with her and had left the apartment a few minutes earlier, also arrived. The officers then further investigated, asking the man if they could search his room.

The first loaf found on the dresser

Inside the room, on the dresser, the officers found a block of narcotic substance , later determined to be hashish. A more thorough search of the house was then conducted, which revealed additional drugs hidden in various parts of the home and its outbuildings.

Hashish in the cupboard and in the garage

The police found another block and a half of hashish hidden inside the cupboard in the living room. A precision scale was also seized , while additional quantities of the narcotic were found in the garage. In total, the 54-year-old's possession amounted to over 250 grams of hashish.

Arrested and taken to prison

Based on the findings of the search, the man was arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking . Following the investigation, the 54-year-old was taken to prison and held at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
